I'm 49 and laurel and hardy was my childhood!! Never missed one. I've being doing a little research since I watched 'Stan & Ollie' and I'm trying to work out reality from fiction. Can anyone help? Firstly, Hal Roach. The film portrayed the relationship between Stan and Hal as not good. Hal kept them on different expiry dates on their contracts so they couldn't go alone. But...has anybody watched 'this is your life' from when both Stan and ollie where recognised? Hal Roach was a guest and all seemed fine between the three of them. Did they kiss and make up? Also. Bernard Delfont, who managed their last England tour in 1953. The movie paints a greedy promoter taking advantage of these two great men. But he also is with them on 'this is your life'. In fact, he was part of the team who planned the surprise on Stan and Ollie. This was two years (I think) after the tour? I'm just really curious. Also... The film suggests 'way out west' to be their final picture for Hal. Then Stan was fired and Ollie done the elephant movie. But yet, according to wiki, most of their films where shot between 1935-1949. On Stan and ollie, ollie makes reference to him and Stan just getting to know each other again. Wiki suggests they never stopped working together. I'd love to know so please do share any info.
51:47 When Ollie pushes Stan's top hat down, when he was wearing it. Then they walk off. I, struggled to breath, I laughed so much. So cartoonish. Response to video only.
I had never seem this film before and as it was a later film was not quite sure what to expect. Just wonderful, laughed out loud. What a great team they were. Simply the best !
OLIVER NORVEL HARDY DIED FROM A STROKE IN 1957 AND STAN LAUREL DIED FROM A HEART ATTACK AT THE AGE OF 65 YEARS OLD AND THEY WERE THE FUNNIEST COMEDY TEAM THAT EVER LIVED 😔
A bit slow and too much boy-girl plot & not enough Laurel & Hardy gags. This 1941 Wartime film was the beginning of the end of the duos’ classic films. The guys were getting older and they were no longer the believable innocents but rather old guys retreating into infantilism.
Loved them all my life and now, aged 87, still do. I was given by my daughter a boxed collection containing 21 c.ds. I watch them regularly (like now!) and always enjoy and appreciate. Kind regards to all L and H fans watching now. England, August, 2023.
STAN LAUREL MADE THIS A SELF SERVE RESTAURANT AND GAVE OLIVIER NORVAL HARDY EGGS FOR BREAKFAST AND IT WAS VERY FUNNY COMEDY ACTORS BY STAN LAUREL AND OLIVA NORVAL HARDY DIED FROM A STROKE AT THE AGE OF 48 AND STAN LAUREL DIED FROM A HEART ATTACK AT THE AGE OF 65 YEARS OLD AND THEY WERE THE FUNNIEST COMEDY TEAM THAT EVER LIVED AND OLIVA HARDY AND STAN LAUREL WERE IN A MOVIE CALLED LAUGHING GRAVY AND IT WAS FILMED IN BLACK AND WHITE AND THEY WERE IN A ROOM AND THE LANDLORD HEARD LAUGHING GRAVY BARKING AND HE CAME INTO THE ROOM AND HE SAID TO OLIVIA HARDY WEAR IS THAT DOG AND OLIVA HARDY SAID TO THE LAND LORD THAT IT WAS STAN LAUREL WITH THE HICCUPS AND THE LAND LORD DID NOT BELIEVE HIM AND THEN THE LAND LORD SAID TO OLIVA HARDY IF YOU ARE NOT OUT OF HERE IN 15 MINUTES I'M CALLING THE COPS AND A POLICE MAN PUT A NOTE ON THE DOOR AND IT RED THAT THIS HOUSE IS CONDEMNED AND THEN THE LAND LORD TOOK A BIG SHOT GUN INTO A ROOM AND HE SHOT HIMSELF AND THAT WAS THE END OF THIS MOVIE AND LAUREL AND HARDY WERE VERY FUNNY COMEDY ACTORS IN THIS MOVIE AND THEY ARE GONE FOREVER BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN 😔
I don't know if Stan and Olie did these awful movies just as part of the war effort, but sadly every movie I have seen that they did after 1941 were universally unfunny pale shadows of their previous work. From what I gather they had very little control over the content and production which would explain why these movies were so bad, but I'm convinced Stan and Olie must have known they were substandard. Regretfully their downward spiral continued culminating in the truly awful 1950 movie "Utopia" which effectively ruined their career.
Sargent walks in with gun-powder all over his face.... "Look Ollie, they got us a porter! You can have Thursday's off." I died laughing. It's a million times funnier today.
I watched L&H as a kid in the 60,s and still watch them today ..They were daft as a brush and predictable but that was the beauty of them ,and it's good to escape the mad world we live in today for a while 😁😂👍

The way Hardy acts with that bird in his pants is a master class in comedy. I haven't watched this in nearly 30years and it's just as good as ever.

Really i enjoyed this film and the same films of L&H,thank you for posting all L&H films.
Laural and hardy made some rubbish films during the 40s
Even though the 1940s Laurel & Hardy movies like this one were pretty funny, the movies and shorts from the 20s and 30s were way better.
I watched L&H as a kid in the 60,s and still watch them today ..They were daft as a brush and predictable but that was the beauty of them ,and it's good to escape the mad world we live in today for a while 😁😂👍
hhh
Never get tired of watching the same film again and again. It's like watching for the first time, every time.
